April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4 in 1995) started her musical journey at the age of 7 when she took piano and guitar classes. In April, when she was 12 years old, she composed her first single, Different. As April approached 14 years old, she dedicated long hours creating song ideas and perfecting the music. The following months, she started taking writing excursions along with her father in LA and NY. April began including other topics in Take My Hand for the people in her life who are struggling with disabilities, peer pressure or even suicide. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing fan base as a lifestyle blogger and is employed by the renowned brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. The disability she has is part of her personality, but it's not the entire of the picture. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook her disability. However, it doesn't emphasize the issue. What's the message? We are all more than just our physical self. Our identities are multifaceted and include a myriad of elements. Lockhart says in a video interview with Lockhart in a video interview "I don't think that will define me. I don't intend to be an influencer on disability because I have so much more to offer." However, it doesn't affect my daily routine. I do the things I normally would and I've adapted to my disability. This is a major element of my life and it's imperative to talk about the subject. Lockhart's self-acceptance journey is one that will last an entire lifetime. She can be a role model with regard to this. She has had periods where she felt insecure about the way she dressed and exposed her arms. It's her choice to wear what she likes, and proudly shares photos of her dressed in her favorite outfits. It's all a process is the most important thing. I'm not sure if will ever be the end of self-love. But I think that's with everyone with whatever they are struggling with. It's important to surround yourself with people who can see and know your true heart.
